Is Putin the Linchpin of the Russian Domestic Regime?
Putin is the linchpin of the regime, so it might be hard to replace him. The more people who say "we should negotiate now," the more Putin can hope that the West will in the end fail to support Ukraine. Both sides need to agree on how the war will end; there won't be drastic changes in the future.
