The Free Birthing Community and Its Origins

Free birthing has its origins in the natural home birth movement. The term home birth started being used in the mid-1800s as hospital births became more common. A pregnant woman in the US today is 50% more likely to die in childbirth than her mother was, according to a recent study. If you have a competent doctor and are at low risk of pregnancy, it's perfectly safe to give birth at home. But we're going to be talking about our free birthing friends who don't consult doctors for precautionary reasons.
