Flowering Plants Measure Time and Temperature

Professor judy jernstead studies plant tomy over at the university of davis in california. She says plants are constantly assessing all kinds of things about their environment so that they can make the right call when it comes to flowering. Temperature is certainly a major factor. Growth is dramatically affected by high temperatures, too high or too low. The length of the day is also important. There are some plants that will only flower when the day lengths are getting greater. In fact, they're measuring the night length. And then there are some Plants that the flowering time is not affected by day length at all, so they are day neutral.
