Brams' 'For All Flesh Is as Grass Text With the Full Force of the Orchestra and Choir'
By the end of this section much of the hope and comfort from the first movement has been washed away. But an a remarkable moment brahms magically transforms the key to f major, and the funeral march takes on a wholly new tone. The insistent tympany takes us to our first fortissimo in the entire score - perhaps one of the darkest moments in all of bran's music. An utterance of the for all flesh is as grass text with the full force of the orchestra and choir.
