The Proof with Simon Hill

CHAPTER

The Role of Endothelial Cells in Cardiovascular Disease

There are cells called the endothelial cells that line the inner wall of the blood vessel. They make something called nitric oxide, which helps blood vessels dilate and it's anti-inflammatory. But they can become damaged from a variety of things, whether it's a toxic Western diet, inflammation, pollution, smoking. And when that happens, then cholesterol particles that are flowing in your blood can burrow across those endothelial cells into the wall of theBlood Vessel. When you eat on healthfully, your blood is thicker and more likely to clot. It's just another strike against you.
