Is Tears Helping in Interpersonal Signalling?
Tears might be useful for interpersonal signalling and behavior manipulation. This would be operating at a subconscious level on the basis of chemical signalling. Some studies in mice have found that behaviorly relevant kimo signals in tears. These cimo signals include paramones that can do things like make male mice more attractive as mates. Or prevent adults from attempting unwanted mating behaviors those mice, so they can have kind of a discouraging, unwonted behaviors in other mice. If this de finding is correct, emotional tears in humans tend to contain chemicals that change the behavior of adults especially adult men. May be making them less aggressive and less likely to experience sexual arousal. The study measured this by having people a smell
