The Role of IQ and Academic Success

IQ has the same role as weight does for offensive lineman in the NFL. Motivation, what they now call grit, and a variety of other things are decisively important. If you're going to be a theoretical physicist, you have to weigh 300 pounds to begin with. And then among theoretical physicists, those other qualities will be really, really important in determining how good you are.
