With micro transactions, and as those got popular on mobile, it enabled one version of this relationship. Some people enjoy getting a level one character, levelling it up to the max level and then re selling it for a profit. Tereare a bunch of people who just do this is like a semi full time job. They'll buy floor characters that have no as or anything, thay'll level them up, and they'll sell them to people who don't want to go through all that effort. And i suspect that we'll see some games deliberately get chosen not to be financialized, just to preserve some of that fun element.
