Is There a Shift That Makes the Concept of Symbolic Castration Shamful?

I think for a long time, the message of Western capitalist society was something like, accept your castration. And today that's not the predominant message of Western or of the not Western anymore,. I mean, the predominant message is if you're not spending all your possible time enjoying yourself, then you're you're wasting your life. Isn't there a kind of shift that makes the notion of symbolic castration shameful now today in a way that it wasn't before? Don't you think? I do.
