There's a big mystery as to who Percy Jackson's dad is because it turns out that his dad is a god, like a Greek god. My one, my frustration early on in this book is like having had no exposure to this at all for the first like what third of the book or so. There have to be like three or four distinct moments where water functions like Popeye Spinach for Percy and he gains combat powers and heals like Wolverine before. And then a little, Plum Bob trident above his head appears like he's in the Sims, but it's Poseidon.
