The Importance of Faith in the Face of Eschatological Judgment
This parable particularly highlights confidence, eschatological faith, and the view of God in light of the eschatological judgment that conditions our present response. What comes to mind from this parable is like Luke 12 where Jesus says, fear not little flock for your father is pleased. It's his good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Therefore, sell your possessions, give to the poor, store up treasures in heavens where moth and rust can't destroy. And so he didn't freely respond wholeheartedly because he lacked the faith of the reality of the age to come and the joy of the master.
