How Do Big-Headed Animals Hear Better?

humans and owls are about equally good at localising the horizontal position of a sound source. Where barn owls excel is in their ability to determine the vertical location of the sound source, the up-down position. So does that mean animals with massive heads like rhinos or elephants can hear better than us? It really hasn't been measured, so we don't really know. Maybe this is a question for a future episode of crowd sciences.
