Is It Easy to Flatten Out a Novel?

i think it can be easy as a creative person to get into something like writing nancy ragan, and to flatten her out. And i knew that all of them were basically so vulnerable because they all were, in one way or another, had a secret that they were guarding. There was a real sense of danger in all the scenes that made really fun to write. It took beta readers to read the manuscript for me to realize there's an obligatory emotional scene that i'd been building a ramp to.
