Jordan's Chronology of Nehemiah
James jordan has argued that articxerxes is a throne name. In the books of ezra and nahemaah, he says darius reigned from around five 21 to four, 86 b c. He bases this claim largely on internal evidence such as lists of returnees. But other commentators account for these similarities by looking at ancestral priestly houses. Most scholars believe we can date nehemiah’s governorship to the time period of around four forty five to four 32 b c. And that this can be done with quite a high degree of certainty for theologically conservative readers.
