The Politics of Culture

Chapo: At this point, politics can be said to be culture. Working class people vote for political parties, but those political parties are culturized. When they vote, they are consciously and subconsciously voting for participation in a political identity. The thing in your heart that makes you vote for a democrat a because that is connected to the misery in your life. Your politics cannot address that misery. You can only address this, this fun house reflection of it, in aa sterilized cultural context. Then, as i said, the state can act according to culture. And that's why it's wrong to say, oh, it's just culture war."
