The Canadian government was willing to utilize early aughts era global war on terrorism stuff, which by that point had basically fallen out of utilization. The guy who was running the proud boys may or may not have been an FBI informant, not standing. But he got punished probably for not being enough of an informant, I'm guessing. There's kind of this interesting anti-foreign push, anti-liberalism push, an anti-COVID push that has been going on in China.
