The battle of rue saint danis took place in 18 30. The first column was trying to reach the hotel de ville, but were blocked by a barricade. A third of a mile later they emerged from this deadly shute into the right bank of the river seine. They then bivouacked and waited for instructions about what on earth they were supposed to do next.
