Copying Culture in Egypt

In Egypt, cassettes fundamentally and radically changes the circulation of culture. Piracy for the first time becomes a popular practice as a result of cassette tapes. We have all these different forms of piracy that play out in Egypt That I try to map out. There are state controlled Egyptian radio employees recording radio broadcast illegally onto cassette tapes. And then we have international piracy where sounds being produced in Egypt are being pirated at a distance from it.
