How to Animate a Manga Panel

The voice acting is post-production. You don't even get to hear the lines as you're drawing anything. It's mostly just like, I think it's written out in the layout section of what they're actually going to say in this particular color. As an animator, do you ever look at the manga panels of the cut you're animating, or do you just try to go in fresh?
