For India, it would seem there is no need for alliances. There are no moral imperatives in foreign policy, only challenges and opportunities. What does this mean for India going forward? I think three key things are one, India emphatically does not see itself in the West's or in anyone's camp. It sees itself as a great power in a multipolar environment where it's negotiating different relationships with other great powers. Even if that's the emerging geopolitical reality, even if India is justified in taking that view of its role in the world, it will be a more unstable future.
