Argentina, despite having the greatest agricultural potential of probably any country in Latin America, has the craziest farm policies. Despite this, when I visited farmers like Mr. Elie Salle, they were not happy at all. They face an insane currency system that the government has multiple different exchange rates for the United States dollar. You need to be able to plan for the long term, but the farmers were telling me it is impossible to plan for a long term because you don't know what the government's policies will be next week.
The International Monetary Fund is sitting on oodles of cash, but failing to disburse it. We examine why China’s lending practices are putting the IMF on a path to irrelevance. Climate change is already squeezing farmers in Latin America; some outright crazy agricultural policies are making matters worse. And reasons not to ban a well-known workplace species: the “talented jerk”.
