There's been almost like a holy war in the field between the people following these two approaches there's a lot of bitterness on both sides. What we need is something new but something new that combines old things in some kind of new way. The classical approach is very cumbersome you have to hand write a lot of rules at least in the ways that we know how to build it right now and so every new domain takes a lot of workThe neural network approach is much more flexible you can throw out a lot of problems.
