Filming a Movie With One Lens?

A lot of the classic movies that i love, we're only shot on one lens. A film like hud was not shot on very many lenses. John ford never shot coverage. He shot the shot he wanted. I mean, they didn't have the lens choice we have now. But look what they created. They created real stories with with real emotion, human emotions. It's a different way of shooting whe multiple cameras,. and you just sotof us zoom in to catch a close up.
