The History of Chickenpox

The link between chickenpox and shingles wasn't really known or at least it wasn't widely suspected until the late 1800s. Both diseases had been recognized long before that. So we get the first mention of chickenpox or rather varicella as it was first called in the 1550s when an Italian physician named Giovanni Felipo in Gracia differentiated it from scarlet fever.
