The McMarten Trial
The film is set in 1984, the year of Ronald Reagan's first term. The movie was inspired by a real-life satanic ritual abuse trial that took place at a California preschool. "We like to let the audience know what was happening in the world when these movies came out," says writer/director Tom Charity.
