The Politics of Safe Sex
In 1991, Camille Paglia's sexual persona came out in paperback. The year was also the year of Clarence Thomas' confirmation and Magic Johnson's AIDS diagnosis. Newsweek ran an issue dedicated to safe sex in December 1991 that featured a condom on the cover. In their safe sex cover story, Newsweek quoted Paglia saying that the dark, turbulent drama of sexual desire supersede sex education.
