The Case of George Parrot
George Parrot was sentenced to death for the murders of two Wyoming lommen in 1881. He attempted to escape from a Rollins town jail after managing to break free of his shackles. Using his own detached shackles as a makeshift weapon, George struck the jailer over the head and fractured his skull. The jailer's wife managed to talk Parrot back into his cell under pain of death. It's believed she told him that hanging would be a quicker death than getting gut shot.
