Is the Book of Enoch Authority?

First enoch failed the historical test no. No jewish community, except the ones, the one at comran, thought it was sacred and canonical. Enoch conveniently combines several apocalyptic ideas from the old testament that otherwise jude would have had to cite three or four different passages to make his point. And he uses the prophetic language not as a commentary on the book, not not to endorse first enoch, but as more or less as a Commentary on the person, enoch himself.
