The Nuclear Family Model and Capitalism

The 40 hour work week was designed for a man who has a wife at home to cook and clean. There's always somebody watching the kids. It's not exhausted because even if there is the mom that's home all the time, it's not sustainable. The family unit became something that was very coveted. And you were invested in that rather than your community as a whole. You have these little micro communities which become the family but what used to be a larger neighborhood or tribe where the children were raised communally.
