Feminism in the Workplace
My mother was a second grade liberal feminist. She came to London at the age of 18 and she worked for Lloyd's Bank. Women weren't allowed on the bank floor itself. And they weren't allowed to take accountancy exams. So she wrote things about that and she marched and she did all the feminist things. We didn't think people were evil. We just wanted to point out when there was something a bit sexist going on. By this time, by my twenties, then I was an atheist,. But I was very well read in Christian theology. And I also had a feminist focus. When I wanted to go and study literature, I wanted to look at women's religious history.
