The Importance of Energy Security in the World
The IEA was founded in 1974 and next year is its 50th birthday. Its roots go back all the way into the world of energy security tied mostly to fossil fuels at the time. In 2014 when Russia invaded Crimea and there was panic over gas you were pitching yourself to lead this organization. So we want to make sure that the air they breathe is clean because some of the energy sources are the main drivers of air pollution or climate change.
