CPI, consumer price index, two important measurements that there are. CPI includes essentially everything; core rate strips out food and energy prices. Long-term rates do not follow the Fed: They follow inflation. When they go up, long-term rates go up in a way that short-term rates come down. That's exactly where we see inflation start to come down.
