The Creation Story in Genesis

genesis is not an objective retelling of a materialistic emergence, it's something more specifically dramatic. It describes the nature of human experience, o the nature of conscious human experience. The creation story lays explicit stress on individual consciousness as a precondition for being itself. Without whatever consciousness is, there would be no segregated ntities and therefore no being.
