The Role of Vitamin B5 in Metabolic Disorders

The sugars that make up glycoproteins and glycolipids are all acetylated using a seetal CoA. Hemoglobin is how you carry oxygen to your tissues, but heme is also used in other enzymes. For example, it is used in the cytochrome P450 enzymes involved in liver detoxification. The reason we fall short of how much glycine we need by an estimated 10 to 60 grams a day is because we don't make enough of this un-methylated form of folate.
