Oral estrogen is not used very often as a result of that. What was known about oral estrogen at the time, again, going back to the early to mid-90s? It had been seen in observational studies that both oral contraceptives and postmenopausal hormone therapy were associated with an increased risk of deep-fainthrombosis or pulmonary embolism. My thought was that starting estrogen in early menopause would translate into at least a slightly lower risk of heart disease.
