Seeing Yourself as Rational Can Backfire the More Objective You Think You Are
The more objective you think you are, the more you trust your own intuitions and opinions as accurate representations of reality. The problem with that is that everyone basically feels like they're rational. It's easy to spot in other people, but it feels like we're being objective. You can seek out different opinions from people who might see things differently from you if you know that there's a risk that you might be subjective instead of Objective. But if you don't even entertain that possibility, then you're not going to do the legwork to find your own blind spots.
