The NTSB's Investigation of the Bridge Collapse
NTSB Chairman Robert Sumwalt led the Civil Transportation accident investigation. The NTSB was informed that just before the failure, a crew had performed post-tensioning on one of the beams for members where the truss is connected. It's a method used to reinforce a structure. But why were they doing that? And why did it fail?
