The Secret of Olympic Doping in East Germany
East germany has had spectacular results at the olympics, and at a devastating cost. Under a covert state sponsor doping programm started in the 19 sixties,. Over ten thousand athletes were forced to participate. Often they weren't even told what they were taking. The side effects were severe and even in some cases, deadly. There are allegations of cover ups by olympic officials who don't want the extent of the doping to be known. If they're caught, it can mean giving up medals and millions of dollars - but for many athletes, it's a risk worth taking.
