Union Carbide and the Bhopal Plant Disaster

The Bhopal plant had already been slated for decommissioning. Union Carbide dumped its waste into 21 unlined pits on the site. The tanks and vats filled with deadly poison weren't emptied until 1989. 360 of the tons of the worst waste was finally locked up in 2005.
