The French Revolution in Ireland
An uprising there began on may 20, seventh after the initial rebel defeats in dublin. But once it got going, the patriots soon had an army ten thousand strong. The french did not land their first wave of support until august the 20 second. And that first wave was just thousand men under general jean joseph ambert. It took a while, but september 17 98, ambert's little army was cornered and surrounded.
