The Battle of Bavaria

The Allies broke through into Germany beyond the Siegfried Line. Easy Company were among those who marched onto German soil. Their objective was to head south to Bavaria and take control of the Eagle's Nest which was a Nazi headquarters built on a summit in the Berch test garden Alps. The route would take them alongside concentration camps in southern Germany. Dick Winters, now a major, discovered one such concentration camp containing emaciated and deceased humans. Those who survived these desperately inhumane conditions would be liberated but they were so malnourished that they could not simply be given food for fear it could have a dangerous effect on their digestive systems.
