Inoculation of Smallpox
Inoculation is the practice of taking material, so usually like pus or skin, from a person who had active smallpox infection. Taking that and then injecting it or inserting it in some way into an individual who had never been exposed to smallpox. Basically exposing them directly to the infectious gunk. But through a root which was not as common because it's a respiratory virus. So what was the usual outcome of inoculation was a mildSmallpox infection. The vast majority of patients who were inoculated survived. And they generally recovered without any scars or pockmarks.
