The Unremeditated Loss of Susan
There's that incredible scene when he trashes Susan's bedroom. That is so completely spontaneous when almost nothing else in the film is. And then it goes back to the, what you're familiar with by then, the kind of extraordinary sets,. But there's this little interlude, which is almost from a different register from a different movie. I mean, that's the moment when he's losing Susan - she's a woman who has a voice but no opera singer.
