It depends how you compare and what I mean by that it really depends on are you comparing the same total dose of exercise. as well so based on that are you saying with the the high intensity exercise you actually get greater increase in your mitochondrial enzymes and your mitochondrial function and things then the submaximal? There is some evidence that if if total dose is matched so the absolute work done on the bike or estimated energy expenditure with intermittent and continuous exercise is the same there is some Evidence that you can see greater increases in markers of mitochondrial content volume but again only few studies.
