The History of BigQuery

BigQuery is building a semantic layer, but everything is pushed down into someone else's platform. So you're not reinventing wheel and you're not shipping data all over the place. And there's still this opportunity to maybe do some limited in memory queries where you need ultra fast performance, but it's not scalable.
