How My Relationship With My Dad Has Changed Since Growing Up
I grew up in a house that had pretty traditional gender roles. I've got a pretty regulated nervous system because of the way that my parents raised us. My mom and I were close and it was a warm relationship, but we weren't like best friends or friends. There wasn't a huge emotional depth. And so when you have a parent that you're losing to Alzheimer's dementia and many other diseases, there's a grief that you're almost simultaneously losing both.
