Social Media and the Skills That You Want in Movement Leaders?
I think a major problem in the social media environment is the problem of provocateurs and infiltrators. Vladimir Putin, as I understand it, has put a major effort into using American social media to deepen divisions in the United States. J. Edgar Hoover did the same thing to the civil rights movement. If you kill their leaders, you can stop the movement. So an organization that is more dispersed is more survivable.
