What Is Green Washing?

Green washing is the practice of marketing products as more environmentally friendly. The term was coined by environmentalist Jay Westerfeld in 1986. Volkswagen used a device to reduce emissions during car testing, but not in real driving conditions. Tyson lied about using drug free animals even though they marketed this. Coca-Cola was criticized for marketing natural sugars and selling fossil fuels.
