The History of Skepticism

The word skeptic comes from the Latin shepticus, which itself is derived from the Greek skeptic cause. Arguably it started out in the Western tradition with Socrates in the 5th century BCE. There's almost continuous tradition, except for the Middle Ages, up until Italy now. The situation has been improving recently, before talking about modern skepticism in 20th, 21st century skepticism.
