Kant said that whatever is out there beyond our minds we can never get to know it directly. Schopenhauer said well he was largely right but he forgot one thing. When it comes to us, so if I am Bernardo when it comes to me I don't need to perceive myself in the mirror or to touch my body to know that I exist. We are our own numenome. We are the thing in itself. And there is something it is like to be us independent of perception.
